When most think about ballroom dance they think of a bygone era like the roaring 20's with swing dance or the standard waltz dating all the way back to the 13th century. Little do most know but ballroom dance is still a large and thriving community in the world and in Kansas City in particular. Being one of the largest communities in the Midwest for ballroom dancing Kansas City has continued to grow the influence of ballroom and it's from this is where we step in. Here at Lux our passion is dance and with 3+ years of serving the Kansas City dance community there is no better place to come. Whether looking for some basic steps to high level technique we are here to teach and ensure that the growth of the dance community continues on.

The latin word Lux stands for light and its our purpose here at Lux to shine a light on any of your ballroom dancing needs. Whether taking individual lessons or joining us for a group class we always tailor each or lessons to the specific needs and wants of our students. Ranging from latin dancing, swing dancing or ballroom dancing any partner dance you want yo learn we are here for you 

Laurelyn is a professional ballroom and Latin dance instructor and choreographer with over 10 years of extensive dance experience. She has been blessed with the opportunity to learn from many different coaches throughout the U.S., from instructors, to amateurs, to world champions. She believes that a dancer should learn from every partner they dance with, whether they are social dancers or champion competitors.

She was the president of the University of Arkansas Ballroom Dance Club and started their competition team, which went on to many successful competitions and events. Laurelyn was a regular volunteer for the NWA Dancing with the Stars fundraiser and Day of Dance events for local hospitals and organizations while she resided in the Northwest Arkansas area, and is now focused on outreach in the Kansas City community.

Laurelyn is a firm believer that everyone can learn to dance, and no one ever regrets it. Acquiring a new, lifechanging skill is always an adventure, and will open up opportunities to enjoy life to its fullest.

Spencer is a professional ballroom dance instructor and choreographer with over 10 years of dance experience. He has danced competitively all across the country on both the Pro/am and Pro/Pro circuits for 8+ years. Spencer has extensive knowledge of all forms of ballroom, latin and swing dance. He has worked with and learned from many nationally recognized judges and instructors. He embodies the saying of always being willing to try something new and putting your best foot forward. Spencer views that the dancing community is one of the best communities to be a part of and that thru dance you can learn not only how to move your own body but how to affect and inspire others to dance as well.
